Young Muslims claimed the biggest win in the history of Michezonet Football tournament with an 8-0 thrashing of Busijo Young Boys as the 2019 showpiece kicked off on Wednesday in Funyula, Busia County.
The second match between Bukiri Young Boys and seasoned campaigners Lucky Stars played to a barren draw.
Philemon Ojiambo was the hero of the day with a hat trick in the match played at Bujwanga Primary School grounds.
Young Muslim who are making a debut in the tournament, were 5-0 up at half-time thanks to Ojiambo’s brace and a goal apiece from Loren Sati, Noah Bwire and Bashir Issa
Ojiambo completed his hat trick- the first in the tournament in two years with the sixth goal of the match from the spot just past the hour.
Fredrick Ojiambo and Issa saw the Sio Port based side romp home in historic fashion.
At Nandereka Primary School, debutants Bukiri Young Boys frustrated regulars Lucky Stars to a 0-0 draw.
Young Boys who consist of a number of secondary school students controlled the opening period of the match but failed to hit the back of the net.
The match became even in the second half but still the two teams failed to break the deadlock
