Former champions Bukiri Rangers showed their intention to reclaim the Michezonet Football tournament by thrashing Bukiri Young Boys in the derby to move on top of the standing of pool A as Young Muslim held on to the top sport of pool B with a one all draw against Busijo United
Four goals in a span of 30 minutes by Collins Oguti, Peter Lucho and Willis Ochieng put Rangers in command of this contest at Nandereka Primary School.
Oguti had opened the scoring in the opening minutes of the match.
Eugene Ojiambo did pull one back for a chastened Young Boys in the second half, but Oguti scored the sixth to finish with the second hat trick of the 2019 campaign.
It was a first defeat for Young Boys who had held seasoned campaigners Lucky Stars to a barren draw in their opening match last week.
The opening five minutes set the tone. The direct and diminutive Young Boys repeatedly forced the issue for former champions but only failed to capitalize on their chances.
Ochieng too was also impressive in the match scoring a brace.
At Bujwanga Primary School, a second half equalizer from Stephen Bwire denied Young Muslim their 100 percent record in the maiden appearance in the event.
Philemon Ojuambo scored his fourth goal in two matches when he gave Young Muslim the lead in the 18th minute before Bwire equalized with a clinical finish 10 minutes into the second half.
As they’ve remained four teams heading to the semifinals of Michezonet,Among all tournaments going on in Samia 2019,
Michezonet has been the most organised tournament.
Most motivating, encouraging, attractive, inspirational to others, most famous, THE ONLY NON KNOCK OUT TOURNAMENT, non violent, non political.
Thanks to the organizing committee, sponsors and management committee.
Good example, perfect performance.
