Athletics Kenya

Athletics Kenya is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Kenya. It is a member of the IAAF and confederation of African Athletics. Athletics (track and field) was one of the two modern sports (together with football) to be formally organised in Kenya around 1922. Kenyan athletics dominate the world of distance running especially in 5000m and 10,000 m. Kenya best known athletes included the four-time women’s Boston Marathon winner and two-time world champion Catherine Ndereba, former marathon world record-holder Paul Tergat, and John Ngugi.
